You’ll Soon Be Able to Shop Petco Inside Lowe’s
Store-in-stores are nothing new, allowing shoppers to purchase everything they need in one trip, saving time and potentially money. Home retailer Lowe’s is the latest store to try it out, announcing a partnership with nationwide pet retailer Petco to trial its first-ever store-in-store concept. Lowe’s conducted a survey with 67 percent of respondents saying their pets are their greatest source of comfort and nearly half feel that way of their home, while 4-in-5 agree their pets are one of the things that make their house feel like a home. As a result, the retailer saw an opportunity to introduce pet products into its stores, and the Petco collaboration was born.
The first Lowe’s and Petco store-in-store is set to open at Lowe’s Alamo Ranch, Texas location in early February before expanding to 14 additional Lowe’s locations in Texas, North Carolina, and South Carolina by the end of March 2022. These stores will offer a curated selection of pet products, from food and treats to grooming products and leashes, allowing pet parents to pick up the essentials while also shopping for their next home renovation project. At select times and locations, there will be a selection of Petco’s pet services on offer, including mobile grooming and Vetco mobile clinics for vaccinations, microchipping, and pest prevention. The 15 pilot locations will staff Petco employees during peak hours to offer pet-focused guidance and expert knowledge.
“For many of our customers, their pets and their homes top the list of things that matter most, especially after two years spent mostly together within the same four walls,” said Bill Boltz, Lowe’s executive vice president of merchandising, in a press release announcing the collaboration. “This partnership enhances the total home solution we offer them by bringing home improvement and pet care products, services, and expertise together under one roof.”
