“My apartment is a true reflection of my character,” begins Griffin O’Neil, who’s been renting this 650-square-foot, one-bedroom apartment in Phoenix for one year, sharing it with his cat, Wasabi. “I work long hours, and work makes me travel, I wanted a space that felt like home as soon as Wasabi and I walk in. I have always loved natural wood, and bargains, so my home is truly a Facebook Marketplace dream.”

“I really want warmth and coziness in my apartment. The first piece of furniture I acquired was the green couch, and I based the rest of the apartment around it,” Griffin explains. “I have always loved mid-century furniture and the vanity dresser in my bedroom is my mom‘s childhood dresser. A lot of the wall art is acquired from different work trips I have been on, my hometown, as well as some made by friends and family.”

Griffin describes his apartment’s style as “mid-century modern eclectic grandma,” and his favorite room is the kitchen. “I put up the backsplash, under-cabinet lighting, and kitchen faucet, and I installed a dimmer switch; it’s perfect for entertaining and I love how moody and homey it feels.”

"I thrifted a three-tier IKEA shoe rack," begins Griffin of a DIY project. "I cut off the top-tier so it could fit under the counter and painted it, adding handles and legs."

When it comes to giving decorating advice, Griffin says to choose what you love. “Don’t go for trends — go for things that speak to you and hold sentimental value.”
