West Elm Just Dropped an Epic Collaboration, and It’s Perfect for Vintage Design Lovers
There’s no shortage of designer collaborations, and it can be hard to know which ones are worth bringing into your home. But when I heard Pierce & Ward — maybe my favorite design duo of all time — was teaming up with West Elm on a collection of furniture, textiles, and accessories, I literally gasped. Then I saw the campaign photos, and I was overwhelmed. Because I wanted just about everything I saw, and I think you might too.
If you’ve made the trip to Pierce & Ward’s Los Angeles shop (I planned a whole day around a visit last year!) or have seen it on Instagram, then you know a few things. First, co-founders Louisa Pierce and Emily Ward have homed in on a lived-in, layered aesthetic that’s truly their own (think: bold colors, rich textures, pattern play, and one-of-a-kind antiques). Second, they have an impeccable eye for custom details and vintage pieces, but those vintage items are very expensive (and rightfully so, considering the age and rarity of the pieces they find).
Why the Pierce & Ward Collection Is Worth Buying
That’s why this collection is off the charts for me. Everything in it comes at reasonable prices, but looks super high-end, meaning each item could hold its own at their eponymous store — or any of their celebrity projects that tend to go viral (remember Dakota Johnson’s green kitchen or Emma Roberts’ striped fireplace?).
Enough of my gushing — let’s get down to the facts. The collection includes over 100 products and spans the categories of furniture, textiles, wallpaper, lighting, and accessories. There’s something for anyone who appreciates interiors with old-world charm and quirk. The design details are stunning, from perforated doors and turned wood lamp bases to curved arms and inlaid wood surfaces.
Swathed in Pierce & Ward’s characteristic palette of Dijon, blush, deep green, and ivory, the whole range is easy to mix and match. Signature Pierce & Ward patterns are on display, too. You’ll find striped pillows and a striped stool alongside leaf motif curtains and arboreal wallpapers. The tabletop assortment continues the stripe theme, marrying striped napkins (and two other geometric prints) with painterly floral dinnerware.
It’s hard to pick a standout item or category, though. The furniture, of course, is epic; the burl wood vanity is as special as the simple step stool. You won’t find materials like these (burl wood, linen, iron, lacquered wood) in stunning, vintage-inspired silhouettes in many other places.
I’m a sucker for the rugs because they’re handwoven and truly beautiful. They have an Art Deco quality to them, considering the geometry each piece features. Even though they’re striking, you get the sense that they’re also neutral enough to ground a space. The lighting is also gorgeous, especially if you like textured pleats and fabric touches.
Everything in the collection is available to shop today. Prices start at $29 for some of the bed linens and range up to the thousands for the sofas, beds, and larger pieces of furniture.
