The plaster lighting of the ‘80s is back — though the latest iterations to hit the market aren’t like anything you might find at your local thrift store. The concrete column silhouettes of decades gone by have given way to more modern, sculptural and organic shapes. From flush mounts, to sconces, to table lamps, I’m seeing this trend everywhere this season.

Plaster fixtures are quickly becoming a go-to style for anyone looking to add a luxurious, artisanal touch to a space. The resurgence of plaster lighting corresponds with the rise in popularity this fall of natural, cozy textures, warmer, earthier tones, and nature-inspired silhouettes. I first saw the trend hit the market with a floral-inspired plaster lamp from Joseph Altuzarra’s recent collaboration with West Elm, and I was hooked.

Check out some more of my favorite modern iterations of the classic ‘80s trend from stylish brands like West Elm, Anthropologie, and Urban Outfitters.

Joseph Altuzarra Botanical Table Lamp
$199

The trend has popped up in the new Altuzarra x West Elm collection with this gorgeous, botanical-inspired table lamp. The lamp base and shade match in off-white tones for a more monochromatic and minimalistic vibe.

Naomi Ribbed Flush Mount
$198

This flush mount from Anthropologie is a nod to pleated empire lampshades, another ‘80s lighting trend on the rise. And, although it has a plaster-like appearance, it’s actually made from resin, making for a more lightweight and less breakable design.

Santorini White Plaster Floor Lamp
$499

I love this floor lamp option from Crate & Barrel; while its base is similar to more traditional styles, the pronounced texture and woven lampshade bring this style back to the future in the best way.

Florent Sconce
$129

You can also find modern versions of the plaster lamp trend in wall sconces, such as this one from West Elm. It’s constructed from a durable and lightweight metal material that is coated in white plaster for added texture and warmth. The Florent plaster line is also available in pendant or chandelier styles.

Epine Table Lamp
$828

This sculptural, modern table lamp from Anthropologie is a great example of how you can give the original style a nice refresh using some more whimsical design details and a sleek shade.

Tiago Floor Lamp
$399

If you’re still drawn to the classic ‘80s spiral floor lamp, this option from Urban Outfitters embodies a similar style but with sleeker and more minimalistic details and a modern, organic shape that blends beautifully with modern decor.

Lani White Wall Sconce
$199$159

Another plaster sconce! I love imagining these installed on a matching plaster textured wall. This one showcases a fun contrast between sleek, straight modern lines and the organic plaster texture. It’s also available in a flush mount style.
