Prabal Gurung’s Joyful New Home Collection With Etsy Celebrates Diversity and Inclusion
Fashion designer Prabal Gurung has brought his eye for design to the world of home decor. The renowned fashion designer — one who has dressed Michelle Obama, Kamala Harris, and Kate Middleton, among many more public figures — has partnered with Etsy for an exclusive collection of homeware, tableware, and decor. Inspired by his life as a global nomad and coupled with his longtime commitment to diversity and inclusion, Gurung collaborated with 11 Etsy artisans from around the globe to co-create the collection.
The belief that we are “stronger in color” is the overall ethos of Gurung’s collection. It features handmade goods and everyday essentials that burst with vibrant and joyful hues, such as the Gold-Accented Graffiti Rose Serving Bowl ($220+), designed in collaboration with TwinettePoterie; the Minimal Pastel Planter Pot ($30), designed in collaboration with PepperPalm; the 4-Set Feltmoonstudio Candles ($37+), designed in collaboration with Feltmoonstudio; and an Ombre Lavender to Violet Velvet Pillow ($131+), designed in collaboration with Colorbloom.
“I believe that we are more connected to each other when we celebrate the diversity that makes the world a more joyful and colorful place,” Gurung said of the collection. “This collection welcomes you to take a seat at the table and celebrate the art of living, with a worldly sensibility that shines a light on the diverse independent makers in the global Etsy community.”
The designer also shared news of the collection on Instagram and mused, “As a longtime advocate for diversity and inclusion, I have always believed we are stronger in colour. The idea of taking a seat at the table is inviting marginalized folks to share their stories and to take part in important decision making moments.” Gurung continued, “Invite us to your dinner table, to the decision making table and beyond!”
