My lower back and I have a complicated relationship. During the day we get along just fine, but at night my chronic lower back pain can make getting a good night’s sleep a real challenge. Because of that, the type and quality of mattress I sleep on matters more to me than ever. I need something with serious pressure relief, but I also don’t want to feel like I’m sleeping on a wooden board — I still love that plush, cushy, “sink-into-bed” feeling.

That’s why I was excited to test the Purple RejuvenatePlus Mattress — Purple’s ultra-luxury hybrid upgrade that promises both deep comfort and serious support. I’ve been a fan of Purple mattresses ever since I first tried one of their hybrid models years ago, so when I had the chance to put this newer premium option through a long-term test I jumped at it.

Design Features That Stand Out

The Purple RejuvenatePlus Mattress is built with several layers designed to balance comfort, and has a few standout design features that explain why it feels so good the second you climb into bed.

At the top is Purple’s plush DreamLayer™ pillowtop, which gives the mattress that instantly cozy, sink-in feeling the moment you lie down. (I’m practically addicted to that feeling at this point.) Beneath that is Purple’s signature 3-inch GelFlex Grid, a flexible open-grid layer that molds to your body while still allowing plenty of airflow.

Under those comfort layers is a zoned coil support system designed to keep your spine aligned while adding extra support where your body needs it most — like the hips and lower back. I’m a curvy girl, so this detail means everything to me when I’m testing a premium mattress. Because of my chronic lower back pain, I can tell pretty quickly when a mattress isn’t giving me the support I need — and this one absolutely does.

Another feature I appreciate is the reinforced edge support. The dual-layer perimeter keeps the mattress from sagging along the sides, which means you can actually use the whole surface without feeling like you might slide off the edge.

One quick heads-up: This is a very deep and very heavy mattress, so it’s worth double-checking that your bed frame can properly support it before ordering.

How It Performed

When I test a mattress, I never rush the process. Sleep changes night to night, so I like to road-test a mattress through real-life scenarios like sore muscles after a week of workouts, my restless nights, and evenings when my husband and our two miniature schnauzers are all competing for space in our queen-size bed.

After more than six months of sleeping on the Purple RejuvenatePlus as our primary mattress, I can confidently say it’s even dreamier than we expected.

The mattress offers a beautifully balanced medium-firm feel that works especially well for back and combination sleepers like me. I get the pressure relief my lower back needs, but still enjoy that soft, plush pillowtop comfort that makes climbing into bed feel like a treat.

I’m also a notoriously hot sleeper; I’m prone to night sweats and tossing around to cool down. Purple’s GelFlex Grid really does make a difference here, because the airflow is noticeably better than on traditional foam mattresses. Since switching, my super-sweaty nights have been cut in half, and I’m sleeping deeper and longer than I used to.

Motion transfer is also non-existent for us these days. Between my husband and our two dogs, there’s a lot happening on our bed at night, but this mattress isolates movement so well that if someone else is tossing and turning, I honestly don’t feel it.

Edge support is another area where this mattress truly shines. Before switching to Purple mattresses, waking up near the edge sometimes meant feeling like I might slide off (and once I actually did!). With the reinforced perimeter on the RejuvenatePlus, the edges feel just as stable as the center.

Delivery was also a standout experience. The mattress arrived very quickly (less than two weeks) with white-glove service, and the setup process was seamless.

What we love

  • Excellent pressure relief for lower back pain
  • Cooling design works well for hot sleepers
  • Minimal motion transfer between sleepers
  • Plush pillowtop adds immediate comfort

Good to know

  • Very deep and heavy mattress
  • Requires deep-pocket sheets
  • Premium price point
  • Bed frame must provide strong support

Because this mattress is so tall, you’ll definitely want deep-pocket sheets to get a proper fit. It’s also worth noting that while the RejuvenatePlus is one of Purple’s more expensive options, it’s designed as a long-term investment piece.

Purple also backs their mattresses with a 100-night trial, a 10-year warranty, and a price-match guarantee, which helps make the purchase feel a little less risky for such a major sleep upgrade.

Should You Buy the Purple RejuvenatePlus Mattress?

If you’re looking for a luxury hybrid mattress that balances plush comfort with real pressure-relieving support, the Purple RejuvenatePlus is an excellent option — especially for back sleepers, combination sleepers, and anyone who tends to overheat at night.

It’s also a particularly good fit for couples, I’d say. Between the strong edge support and minimal motion transfer, it handles shared sleep spaces surprisingly well.

Yes, it’s an investment. But after testing two of Purple’s top mattresses, I can confidently say the brand delivers on its promises. If you’re already a fan of Purple’s signature feel, like me, then this upgrade is one you likely won’t regret for many years to come.
