I’ll admit to it. Every now and then in the heat of the moment, I’ve been know to slam the occasional door. So perhaps when this tip showed up in my inbox from my S.O., it wasn’t so much as a tip, but a hint. In an effort to keep the peace, literally, I’m going to give this quick tip a whirl.

If you have a door slammer in your house, all you need to do is head to the hardware store and buy a package of those little felt pads that are used to protect surfaces from getting marked up. Then you simply add them to the strike plate or on opposite corners of the door jamb. Home Hacks recommends the door jamb if you’re looking for a more inconspicuous approach, granted I’m going to try both techniques to see if either way dampers more sound than the other.

And just as this tip conveniently found its way into my inbox, if only I had it to share with my sister a few years back when she finally resorted to removing the door from her four-year old’s room. Pretty sure this trick would have staved off quite a few headaches and tears!
