I write about house tours (but I love a good kitchen and kids' room article). My work can be found across AT Media, including The Kitchn and Cubby. I’ve been writing about home-related topics for nearly five years and love seeing how people make their homes unique.

One thing I said I’d never complain about is natural light — until the day I started to. Don’t get me wrong — the two large windows in my living room are wonderful (and the only sources of sunshine in the whole home), but sometimes I want to have a movie marathon without feeling guilty about it being a sunny day. Also, my living room becomes a bedroom when I have overnight guests, and I don’t want them to be woken up so early.

So when the opportunity to test Quince’s Raw Silk Curtains came up, I jumped at the chance. I have clothing from the brand (which is so comfortable), so I figured that the curtains would be just as good. Unsurprisingly, I guessed correctly.

Quick Overview

A Quick Look at the Quince Raw Silk Curtains

  • Come in two styles (light filtering and room darkening)
  • You can choose from Ivory, Grey, and Navy
  • The curtains are made using short fibers so there’s a bit of texture
  • There are two hanging options (rod or through the holes)

Design Features That Stand Out

When I received the curtains, what I was most excited about was watching the room transform from bright to dark. The room-darkening drapes did just that, thanks to the 100% cotton and polyester dual darkening inner lining. However, I didn’t have to sacrifice the looks of the light-filtering curtains, either. The front of the drapes are ivory and have the 100% raw silk that makes them nubby and feel organic-modern. The living room is much darker now, but I purchased magnetic curtain tiebacks to let the sunlight in.

How the Curtains Performed

The curtains look wonderful in my living room. They make the room feel cozier and cooler during the summertime days, and also look high-end for being on the more inexpensive side (right now a panel costs just under $100). I love how the ivory color is neutral, but the texture adds a bit of visual intrigue.

While the curtains were super easy to slide onto a chrome-colored rod I purchased from Amazon, it’s important to note that they don’t come with one. Once we installed the rod holder, it was super simple to slide the rod through the top of the curtain and hang. They fit the exact width of my window and hang just a few inches below (which I don’t mind at all!). For context, I hung the 48×84 size.

What we love

  • The blackout curtains made the room feel dark without being pitch black.
  • The material is soft with a nice texture that makes it look high-end.

Good to know

  • An order comes with just one panel (so if you have two windows, be sure to double that!).
  • The curtains require dry cleaning.

Should You Buy the Quince Raw Silk Curtains?

Overall, these curtains did exactly what I hoped they’d do (darken the living room) without making it feel like a dark, scary dungeon. The texture adds coziness to the room, and the material feels very high-quality without being too high-end and fragile. Although it’s somewhat of a bummer that they’re dry-clean only, it’ll just encourage me to be cleaner.
