Reese Witherspoon Is Looking for a Librarian for Her Book Club—And If You Love Reading, It Could Be You
Do you have a mile-long list of books you want to read, have a passion for sharing book recommendations, and want nothing more than to jump into a good book when you get home? Well, then Reese Witherspoon wants to work with you.
Witherspoon and her media company Hello Sunshine are looking to hire a Librarian-In-Residence for Reese’s Book Club. The job posting states that the chosen candidate will help keep resources in check, lead conversations within the Book Club community, and last but certainly not least, work with Witherspoon to talk about book picks. (If that doesn’t sound like a book lover’s dream, I don’t know what does).
The book-related qualifications for the role are pretty straight-forward: you must have a passion for book clubs and book culture at large, be in-the-know with Reese’s Book Club’s books, and are constantly reading books. Applicants also must be enthusiastic, fun, and comfortable on camera.
Speaking of on camera, Witherspoon posted a video on YouTube about the exciting opportunity. “If you’re passionate about sharing women’s stories, reading books, and you love to laugh and have a good chat, you might be our person,” Witherspoon said, with emphasis on the “reading books” part. “Do you really love books? I mean, really really love books, like you have a stack of 10 books beside your bed that you’re desperate to read?” She also mentions a great sense of humor, dance moves, and library experience being advantages to applicants. Time to brush up on those dancing skills!
A few things to keep in mind: while librarian experience is certainly encouraged, it is not a requirement. It’s a paid part-time position that doesn’t require you to be in Los Angeles, where Hello Sunshine’s offices are based. Also, the job might involve some travel, but expenses will be covered by the company.
If you’re ready to apply, submit the form on the application page along with a 90-second video of yourself. If Witherspoon’s video gives us any indication as to what she’s looking for, it’s enthusiasm and excitement for the opportunity. Time to shine!
