However, Valerie had just started a new job as a clinician, and it was also the beginning of the COVID-19 pandemic, so she felt uncertain about employment security. So, she sadly had to pass up the apartment she toured. But something about the space stuck with her. 

In the summer of 2020, Valerie toured a one-bedroom unit in the same building and signed as soon as possible. “I went back to do another tour, and I knew that this was the place,” Valerie explains. “The area is quiet, and I love that it’s ranch-style, so I don’t have to worry about anyone above or under me.”

And since moving in three years ago, Valerie’s spent a lot of time cultivating a snug environment with splashes of color. 

“I am a therapist, and sometimes it can be hard separating work from home,” Valerie writes. “My overall goal with decorating my space was to make it my safe space after a long day. I am a homebody, and I LOVE being at home, so I try my best to make it as cozy as possible.”
