I don’t know one person who doesn’t grumble when wrestling their duvet cover onto their comforter. Even if you live with someone, it still never seems to be a simple task for two people, let alone one. Really, it’s all about lining up the corners and making sure they’re placed correctly so that the rest of the duvet shakes out smoothly — but why is that concept just so hard? Probably because it’s just as much a mental process as it is a physical one. Every time my duvet cover comes out of the dryer, I think, “Here we go again.” Then, I maturely avoid the process for a few days and sleep duvet cover-less. And when I’m finally up for the task, it seems like a full-on aerobic experience that I hope none of my NYC neighbors ever see through the window. Any fix to this flawed process is most welcome with me — and when I received Saatva’s Organic Percale Duvet Cover Set, my prayers were answered.

I was already a fan of Saatva‘s high-quality sheets, blankets, and mattress toppers, and right out of the package, I knew I would be happy with this luxe-looking duvet and shams. (I got mine in the Full/Queen size in their Grey shade, which, P.S., has the most gorgeous green undertone that really comes through based on lighting and your other bedroom hues.) The 100 percent organic cotton percale material gives it that crisp, fancy hotel-style feel while still being so soft, and it was nice to know that two new pillow shams and a new duvet were enough to elevate my bedroom’s look in a subtle, low-lift way. What I didn’t know was that the duvet cover was uber-functional, too.

When it was time to use it for the first time, I was SO pleasantly surprised to find ties in each corner of the duvet to be able to keep it my comforter firmly in place, cutting out about half of the physical labor from the whole process. I simply placed the bottom corners in the duvet, tied them in a snug bow, and was able to stretch the rest of the comforter up without any lumpy areas or having to re-do the whole thing three times. I tied the other two corners at the top, just as I did at the bottom, and then realized I was in for one more treat. My old duvet had buttons at the top, which I never loved, since the gaps between them were so wide that you could see the comforter sticking out at times, and it didn’t look as polished as it could. With Saatva’s duvet cover, I didn’t even notice it at first, but there’s a hidden zipper closure that clearly did its job! One quick zip and you can’t even tell which side is up from down.

All that, and it washes so well, too! Do yourself a favor and toss your old duvet cover like I did, and you can dread making your bed a little less, too! And now’s the perfect time: With Saatva’s Cyber Week sale going on until December 6, you can snag the set for 10 percent off, bringing the total down to $166.50.
