A Lush, Tropical, Fun Florida House Has a Stunning Sunroom

Jen and Josh Richmond have owned this four-bedroom house for four years: This home was featured on Apartment Therapy in April 2019. We were living in Pennsylvania at the time. I saw the post and loved the house! Long story short, we had our house on the market because we were moving to Raleigh for Josh’s work in May.

I have a good friend here in Saint Augustine and had been stalking real estate to hopefully move there one day. This house popped up the first day on the market and I had to have it! We put in an offer sight unseen and moved here with the kids while Josh went back and forth to North Carolina. This was in July … and seven months later, Covid hit and Josh could now work from home and came here permanently.

It was so perfect. The first thing I did was build the shack out back; it’s half storage and a nice cozy living area, and perfect for Josh to work in! I’m so happy it all worked out and we got to take this already amazing home to its next level!

I’m a designer and mom of three teenagers. Two boys have flown the nest, and daughter, Julia, is 16 and lives at home. Josh is a manager for Intel and works in the shack out back. The house is completely run by three fur babies!

I identify as fun, relaxed, eclectic, confident, and bold. I think my personality matches our house and style perfectly.

Describe your home’s style in five words or fewer: Fun, relaxed, lush, tropical, retreat.

What is your favorite room and why? Sunroom! It’s a favorite to lounge with the babies, drink coffee in the morning, and have a glass of wine in the evening. It’s sun-drenched and filled with plants … but with A/C!

What’s the last thing you bought (or found!) for your home? I had paintings done of the front/backyards of our house and one of the dogs (on the mantel) by my favorite local artist, Obie Hunter! Prized possessions!

Any advice for creating a home you love? Fill your home with pieces/things you LOVE! No rules really for an authentic, warm, welcoming house that’s a reflection of you!
