Former Olympian Shawn Johnson East’s Wayfair Collaboration Is Full of Cute, Cozy Neutrals
Just in time for the 2024 Paris Olympics, former gold medalist and Hall of Fame gymnast Shawn Johnson East is teaming up with Wayfair on a collection of curated finds for the home. Many of the pieces were installed in her own Nashville family home, which she shares with her three children and husband.
When Johnson East began the process of redecorating, the goal was stylish, sure, but also practical for her littles, who are still in the coloring-on-furniture and science-experiment-in-the-kitchen phase. “I wanted it to feel like a space that you could truly live in and use, and you didn’t feel like you have to tippy-toe around,” says Johnson East in a video about the project for Wayfair’s ongoing “House to Home” series.
As part of the makeover, the family redid the decor in their entry, kitchen, and family room, which Johnson East is pictured in above. They also transformed their formal dining room into a fun lounge space for cozy family hangs and entertaining company.
Style-wise, Johnson East skews traditional meets modern, and she favors a calm, serene palette. “I love texture, and I love neutral colors, so I ordered a ton of it,” Johnson East says. Through the collection, you’ll find warm wood tones, pops of pretty green, and plenty of different textures, including natural materials like leather, rattan, and even wood beading.
“Shawn was the perfect person to partner with this series,” Kyle Wright, Wayfair’s brand creative director, said in a press release about the collaboration and video. “Not only is she an inspiring, world-renowned athlete, but she’s a supermom of three, who, like many of our customers, is in the early stages of building her family home.”
