Let’s be honest: Washing dishes isn’t really anyone’s idea of a good time. I’ve been fortunate enough to have scored a dishwasher in both NYC apartments I’ve rented — a major luxury that I don’t take for granted — but still, I own a number of items that aren’t dishwasher-safe. Just to name a few, I use my blender vessel, Always Pan, tumbler, and knives every single day, so I’m usually rinsing them down in the sink just as often. So far, I’ve been laying out a dish towel on my countertop and piling them on top of that to dry. As you might expect, try as I might, it’s not really cutting it. It looks downright cluttered.

Of all of the kitchen essentials out there, they’re not necessarily the most fun, but dish racks are completely necessary for a functional space. (Yep, even if you have a dishwasher like me.) Even better if it can live in your sink, completely out of sight and saving you space. I just found a $24 option from West Elm that’ll do just that — but it’s so sleek that you likely won’t mind it sitting on your countertop either, if you have the room for it. It’s selling fast, so hurry and get all of the details below.

What is the Sinkin Dish Rack?

The Sinkin Dish Rack was designed by one of our favorite organizing brands, Umbra. We already knew that they’re pros at combining style and function, but this organizer further drives that point home. Instead of painstakingly drying your dishes with a towel, it’ll save you time and effort by giving them a thorough air dry. That’s all thanks to its open design — the removable cutlery holder also has holes for draining — which prevents water from pooling and looks more low-profile than most standard dish racks. With such a compact size (which is 11 by 14 by 4 inches), it fits in most standard sinks and is perfect for a small household. To top it all off, the non-slip rubber feet ensure that your sink or countertop won’t get scratched up.

What Umbra Reviewers are Saying

Average Rating: 4.6/5

“I love this thing. We got this sinkin dish rack because we have a beautiful new kitchen and don’t want a big ugly dish rack on our lovely counter. Most dishes go in the dishwasher so this rack is perfect for the small amount of items we hand wash each day. It looks good and holds dishes upright to dry. Perfect.” — Joanne

“Nice compact dish rack that fits nicely in my sink instead of on the counter. Like that it does not have any sides to it. Would recommend.” — Melanie Quail

“Love having the Sinkin draining rack for items I choose to wash by hand. It has freed up needed counter space and makes the kitchen look more organized.” — Granny_Lou

Dishwasher or not, this handy tool is a must have for any tiny kitchen — or if you simply don’t want your dishrack to hog too much space. As I write this, only a limited number of them are left at West Elm, so don’t wait too long to snag it — you’ll be thanking yourself endlessly after you see how much it improves your kitchen setup.
