Three years ago, Salva Pereira decided he wanted to live alone for the first time in his life. Unfortunately, his small budget meant he’d be limited with how much space he was going to be able to live in.

I had looked at many other apartments within my budget that were about the same size, and this one was the best one I visited,” he admits.

It was the large amount of natural light that really attracted Pereira to this space. As well as the fact that the small studio came with a little outdoor terrace.

“For me natural light is essential; it affects my mood and the fact that this studio is on the top floor of the building really allows for the natural light to come through,” he writes.

I mainly gave the whole space, inside and out, a fresh coat of paint. That gave it a much fresher look. I did little things like change the handles of the kitchen cabinets. The original backsplash was black, and I changed it out for a gray one.
