This Cute, Small Los Angeles Bungalow Rents for $2K a Month
Christie Torgerson has been renting this bungalow for 10 months with her two cats: My little home is tucked away in a neighborhood in Glassell Park, Los Angeles. I was drawn to this home because of the beautiful patio in the front, shaded by mature loquat trees and the opportunity to maximize my love for gardening.
The layout of the house allowed me to create really lovely little areas and moments in a small space. I live here with my two cats, Klaus and Frida, who spend their days lounging or sitting in the windows watching the birds and squirrels in the trees outside.
I am a fashion designer and a creative person with a love for textiles, pattern, color, and art. I have filled my home with many eclectic patterns, grounded by sleek warm wood. Most of the art in my house was made by friends, which makes it all feel very personal to me.
Describe your home’s style in five words or fewer: Pattern mix, colorful, warm, cozy.
What is your favorite room and why? It’s all kind of one big room, but I think my favorite area is the living room/bedroom area because I have some really awesome lamps that I love.
What’s the last thing you bought (or found!) for your home? I think the last thing that I bought was an amazing lamp by my friend Mallory Anita Lawson! She makes the ceramic lamp bases by hand and makes the lamp shades herself. It’s probably one of the coolest items that I own!
Any advice for creating a home you love? Make every piece you put in your home special to you. That could mean personalizing an item that you buy with a new paint color, adding new hardware, finding a special item at a flea market, or buying from an artist or maker that you love. I love looking around at my house at things that bring back a memory, a story, or just bring me joy in some way.
Thanks, Christie!
