Spirit Halloween Is Looking for Its First-Ever Chief Spirit Officer, and the Perks Are Scary Good
Among the many telltale signs that spooky season is on the way are the posters popping up on what feels like every block for new Spirit Halloween locations. Even the former flagship Barneys in New York City is being revamped into the costume chain this year.
If you’re patiently awaiting your local Spirit Halloween to open its doors, the retailer has an incredible incentive, offering up a “Halloween dream job” straight out of “Halloweentown” for one lucky candidate.
A panel of spooky season experts, including Spirit Halloween executives and *NSYNC’s Lance Bass, will select the winner for the brand’s first-ever “Chief Spirit Officer,” and they’re currently, ahem, “head-haunting” to fill the role. Per the official job description (which you’ll fittingly find on Monster), the Chief Spirit Officer will serve as the brand’s go-to Halloween enthusiast, hosting a special social media series.
All Halloween enthusiasts are encouraged to apply, including “DIYers, costume connoisseurs, makeup magicians, and out-of-this-world home decorators.” Interested candidates should share their photo or video submission via in-feed posts on Instagram, Facebook, Twitter, or TikTok, expressing why they love the holiday and deserve to be Spirit Halloween’s CSO. Applicants should include the hashtag #SpiritHalloweenCSOContest and tag @SpiritHalloween in their posts.
As for the important part: the perks, of course. The grand prize winner will score a $10,000 cash prize, free Halloween costumes for a decade (provided via ten $50 gift cards to Spirit Halloween), a VIP shopping experience for a Halloween home decor upgrade worth $500, and a trip for two to the Spirit Halloween flagship location in New Jersey next month ahead of the big day.
“We’re anticipating the most exciting Halloween season ever, so Spirit needs the ultimate Halloween fan to join our team as Chief Spirit Officer and help us share in the passion leading up to October 31,” Spirit Halloween CEO Steven Silverstein said in a statement. “We love the enthusiasm and creativity our fans showcase on social media — and we look forward to welcoming our CSO to the team in this one-of-a-kind job fit for Halloween’s biggest fan.”
Even if you’re not chosen for the grand prize, don’t fret. Five runners-up will receive exclusive Spirit Halloween prize packages, including Spirit Halloween accessories, costumes, and decor.
Interested? Applications are now open for residents of the U.S. and Canada through August 29 on Monster. May the best ghost or goblin win.
