Even if you’ve checked off every single task on your cleaning to-do list, there may be a few things you might have forgotten to clean. One thing that comes to mind that most people forget? Cleaning the tools that helped you do all that cleaning!

Think about it: When’s the last time you cleaned your cleaning supplies? Or even vacuumed your vacuum? (If you’ve seen Friends, there’s an episode where Monica Geller is seen cleaning her big vacuum with a handheld one. “If only there were a smaller one to clean this one!” she says.)

Cleaning your cleaning tools will prevent them from getting too gross and ensure everything runs smoothly the next time you use them. It’s also an important last step to close out the Spring Cleaning Cure, our free 10-day cleaning plan (see here for the other nine tasks)!

Day 10: Clean your cleaning tools.

Don’t know where to start? Here are some tools that might need a deep-clean.

  • Dish rags
  • Towels
  • Microfiber cloths
  • Gloves
  • Duster
  • Dustpan
  • Broom
  • Brushes
  • Mop
  • Bucket
  • Vacuum cleaner
  • Robot vacuum
  • Spot and stain cleaner
  • Air purifier
  • Any other specialty cleaners you may own

What tools did you clean today? Tell us in the community forum.
