If you want to get the most bang for your buck, it’s smart to shop for versatile pieces that work in multiple spaces and pair well with a variety of styles. Now that spring is here, it’s the perfect time to grab a few of these hard-working items that can freshen up your home for the upcoming season and beyond.

With that in mind, I asked Jodi Kelly, owner and principal designer of Kelly Home Designs Staging & Interiors in New Jersey, how she’d spend $100 at Target — specifically when shopping for spring finds.

Some of her picks are perennial workhorses in her staging arsenal, and others are new arrivals that can help set the tone for the new season. “These items go a very long way in helping a home’s decor feel fresh and updated,” she says. “Florals, greenery, and throws are core items when staging a home, and these are a great place to start if you only have $100 to spend (okay, $100.99).”

If you’re looking to add a burst of spring to your home, Kelly recommends scooping up this arrangement of faux pink flowers and green stems from the latest Threshold with Studio McGee collection. “This darling little arrangement is perfect for spring and can be used pretty much anywhere within the home,” she says. It’s adorable on its own, or placed atop a stack of books for extra presence.

The go-anywhere vibe of the piece makes it an absolute staging MVP. The classic white container means it’s at home with any style of decor and in pretty much any room of a home. The pop of green reads fresh and ready for spring. “It’s perfect to place on a coffee table, entry table, kitchen table, or kitchen counter,” says Kelly. “Versatility at its best!”

This is another Studio McGee find and a favorite of Kelly’s that gets rave reviews from Target customers. “Every home needs at least one throw blanket in cream or white — which photographs extremely well,” says Kelly. “This one adds interest and can also hide any unsightly stains that may exist.” Her favorite places to drape this throw are over a sofa, ottoman, or at the end of a bed. And since it’s not too heavy, it’s a staple year-round.

Okay, this could quite possibly be the best way to spend five bucks. After all, who doesn’t love a little zero-maintenance pop of greenery? Says Kelly, “This little cutie is excellent on a kitchen counter or in a bathroom.”

Kelly says she uses these placemats in every home she stages. “This placemat can be used instead of a tray, acting as an anchor for the faux plants or any other decor pieces,” she explains. To create an eye-pleasing moment, Kelly likes to arrange three items of varying heights on one of these placemats. She finds these placemats so useful, she suggests picking up more than one. “If you have a few more dollars to spend, I’d pick up at least four of these,” she says.
