As someone who has been an apartment-renter for my entire adult life, I know how easily it can feel like any upgrades you make may cost you your security deposit. Whether it’s worrying about leaving holes in the wall, wishing you could paint, or finding DIYs that you’ll never be able to try in your own home, the frustration is real.

I’m always keeping an eye out for home projects that work for my space, so when I found this renter-friendly design idea for stained glass curtains I bookmarked it immediately.

This 5-Minute Window Hack Requires Zero Install

Instagram creator Erika Veurink shared a quick tip that could totally upgrade any living room, kitchen, or bedroom — really, any space with a window.

Veurink shared her stunning stained-glass window treatment idea, using only sheer linen curtains. By purchasing these curtains, she was able to replicate the beauty of stained glass without the commitment of doing a full window installation.

Thanks to the sheer fabric, light still shines beautifully through its colored patches. And the best part is that the curtain can be simply taken down whenever it’s time to move out. (If you use a tension rod to hang it, there will be no holes in the wall to worry about, either!)

How to Nail the Look in Any Space

After browsing Etsy, I was able to find the exact product she mentioned: a custom “Pojagi” panel made by Stella Lee Studio. Although Pojagi is a Korean patchwork style frequently used for wrapping gifts, it’s more recently been applied to curtains. This particular style starts at $225 for custom sizing, but there are many other options for a range of prices.

No matter your style, there’s a curtain that’s perfect for your home and budget. Give this window dressing hack a go, and enjoy a stylish upgrade that won’t cost you a security deposit.
