I Tried Those Stained-Glass Window Films You’ve Seen All Over Your Feed — And the Results Surprised Me
There’s a lot I immediately loved about my new apartment. Tons of room? Check. A spacious kitchen? Check. A dedicated office space? Check. The one thing I didn’t love, however, was the windows — more specifically, the ones in my bedroom. You see, living in a basement apartment places my windows higher up on the wall, allowing anyone who walks by to peer down into my apartment with ease. No bueno. My solution? One of those gorgeous stained-glass-inspired window films that social media users can’t seem to get enough of.
Now, you may be wondering, “Sarah, why don’t you just put up some curtains and call it a day?” That would be the easy option, but it wouldn’t be the fun one, now would it? So began my search for the perfect window film. I scrolled through numerous versions, on the hunt for the one that would give me the style and privacy I was looking for, when I came across Artscape’s Trellis Window Privacy Film.
What is Artscape’s Trellis Window Privacy Film?
Available in five gorgeous designs, this window film is the perfect way to add some interest (and seclusion) to windows in precarious places. Application couldn’t be easier. First, you’re going to want to measure and cut the film to the size of your window and give your window a good clean. After that, all you have to do is spray a mix of water and soap to help the film adhere, place it on the window, and use a credit card (or something with a similarly thin edge) to scrape away any bubbles. Et voilà! Your beautiful, new-and-improved window is set.
Why I Love Artscape’s Trellis Window Privacy Film
I could go on and on about why I love this window film, but let me start with the design. I think I can venture to say that most of us love the look of a stained glass window, but when I saw that this pick combined stained glass and the look of a flower-covered trellis, I fell head over heels. And when I received it, I was more than thrilled to see that the online pictures didn’t do it justice: This film is stunningly vibrant!
After cutting the film down to size, figuring out the best layout (pro tip: measure and cut the film so that the bars of the trellis line up as best as possible if you opt for the one I went for!), and putting them up, I took a step back and marveled at the sight. Not only are my windows now a work of art, they also cast the most beautiful colors into my room, which is something everyone is bound to love. The best part? I can sleep soundly knowing that no one will be looking into my space!
Ready to hop on the trend yourself? Normally, this window film comes in at $25, but right now you can make over your windows for just $18. Suffice it to say, this is one of the best purchases I’ve made for my space so far — and it may just become one of yours, too.
Buy: Artscape Trellis Window Privacy Film, $17.99 (normally $24.98)
