This Rental Home Has a Great Stenciled Accent Wall
Name: Samantha, partner, and three young children
Location: Winnipeg — Manitoba, Canada
Type of home: Townhouse
Size: 1200 square feet
Years lived in: 1 year, renting
Tell us a little (or a lot) about your home and the people who live there: Our home has been one to grow in; while we are renting I didn’t want that to hold back my creativity in making all of these spaces exactly what we need. Creating the spaces of your dreams doesn’t have to cost a fortune, and room by room I have been adding personal touches and functionality for a family of five.
Describe your home’s style in 5 words or less: Boho, Vintage Scandi Chic.
What is your favorite room and why? My favorite room is our main living space. With two sides it’s a great, large space for us all to gather and spend time together. Creating this space to function for young children while being pretty and pleasing has been a fun challenge and this room is always evolving.
What’s the last thing you bought (or found!) for your home? The last things I have found were some thrifted decor including a vintage landscape picture, which completed one of the walls in our living room.
Any advice for creating a home you love? Don’t rush the process! Buy intentionally not impulsively, look for pieces that bring joy. Look in all sorts of places including thrift stores, antique malls, and small shops. It also doesn’t have to be expensive to decorate the house to match your taste.
