You know those homes that only seem to exist in storybooks or fairytale movies? Well, Sharon Hornsby, an interiors content creator, blogger, and self-proclaimed “occasional interior designer,” actually lives in one. She shares the house with her pilot husband, Jim, three children, and “boss of the house” cavapoo Thor.

Sharon and her family purchased the 1920s house in 2019 and loved it because of it being situated in the Sussex countryside. The home’s history showed, though (namely in the 1980s decor). “Even though the lodge itself was dark and gloomy when we looked around it, what struck us was the view of greenery from every single window,” Sharon admits.

Four months after purchasing the house, construction began to enlarge it (from two to four bedrooms), replace the roof, and remove the interior to create a new floor plan.

Once the construction was finished — which Sharon admits was done on a “DIY basis” — she used her eye for interior design and a wealth of inspiration to create the most colorful, cozy home.

“I am a big lover of the colors found naturally, and no home of mine is without the basics of blue and green and some natural wood elements,” Sharon says.
