This Mini Game Will Be the Highlight of My Holiday Party, and It’s Only $10

If you’re an avid fan of board games, word games, or even card games, you’ve probably heard of the cult-favorite Tapple party game that took over TikTok the last few years, with videos of people playing it amassing millions of views. It’s fast-paced, family-friendly, and easy to play with a number of people — which I can attest to since it was the highlight of my Christmas party two years ago! Now, the same brand has come out with a newer version of the game that’ll have everything you love about the original, but in a mini size. Say hello to The Original Tapple Mini.

The same rules of the original version of Tapple apply to this mini one. Players choose a card with a category (there are four on each card, two on each side), press the button in the middle (aka the timer), and shout out words related to the category that start with a certain letter. Once the related word is said, you press the corresponding letter tab.

So for instance, if the category is pizza toppings and you say Pepperoni, then you push the P down. The next person will go and say a topping that starts with a different letter, like Mushroom, then push the M down and so on. Each person takes turns until the timer runs out.

There are 36 category cards with 144 categories that fit in a little pop wheel at the bottom that you can just take out, and no batteries are required for the built-in timer. It’s ideal for ages 8 and up, for two to eight players, and each overall game can run from five to 15 minutes, making this quick, fun, and super easy.

What I enjoy about the Tapple game is how fast each round is and how there’s no true “winner” of each game. (I’m highly competitive at party games, so this is good for me!) You’re all playing in a circle, trying your best to name off things that fit into the category. My friends and I have also gone off-script and created our own categories, like names of high schools in our state or different local dishes.

What I love most about this mini version though is that it takes all the things I like about the original game and just shrinks it down. The Tapple Mini is super compact and portable, so you can take it with you in your bag to any holiday gathering this year and beyond. I know I will be!
