This TikToker Discovered the Best Methods to Score the Biggest Clearance Deals at Big Box Stores

Finding great deals at your favorite big box stores can sometimes be a challenge, but one TikTok user is sharing the secret method for scoring incredible prices on items that have already been marked down. TikToker Sean (aka @superunsexy) frequently shares shopping tips with followers on social media, recently divulging the little-known way shoppers can get clearance deals at Target and Walmart at their lowest sale prices.

Sean relies on the in-store scanners at both chains to price check items, noting that many times, deeply discounted clearance goodies are stored high up on top shelves, making it inconvenient for buyers to grab them. He recommends using the scanners from far away to get a peek at their current selling price, finding a vintage style stand mixer that had been marked down to just $20 — all by pointing his scanner up at the item from the floor.

Over at Target, Sean discovered some heavy appliances on sale on an end cap. But instead of lifting each item to bring it over to the store’s price checkers, he recommends taking a photo of the barcode with your phone and scanning the photo of the barcode at the price checker kiosk. Using this method, he found an air fryer that typically retails for $150 was on sale for just $75, a 50 percent savings.

Plenty of Sean’s tips are helpful, especially if you have a little bit of time and patience to scour the aisles for a killer deal. He recommends checking lower shelves and behind other items, where sale items might have been relegated or placed accidentally.

He also suggests price checking multiples of the same items as sometimes items don’t match their picture or are mismarked, which could mean major savings even on big-ticket items like furniture and, of course, appliances.
