Tell us a little (or a lot) about your home and the people who live there: Our home was built in 1920, constructed of good solid materials. When we bought the property, we discovered unusual covenants meaning we can never open a brewery or a fish and chip shop on the property!
Nicola is a tattooist and interior designer, Garin is an IT director.
I identify as a strong female, as a heavily tattooed woman. I guess you could say that my home reflects my personal look — a lot of color and pattern.
Color and pattern makes my eyes happy. Bland and boring depresses me.
Describe your home’s style in 5 words or less: Maximalist, colorful, patterned, bold, and beautiful
What is your favorite room and why? I adore our bedroom. When we moved in, we decided to knock two bedrooms into one, creating a large space with an en-suite. We also knocked into the tiny crib room to create a walk-in wardrobe (for my clothes are as colorful as me and my home so they needed a room all to themselves!).
What’s the last thing you bought (or found!) for your home? A gorgeous Wendy Morrison rug. We have a few of her gorgeous pieces in our home.
Any advice for creating a home you love? Choose pieces you won’t tire of. Beautiful things that make your eyes happy. Buy well; quality goes a long, long way.
