White kitchen before makeover

When you’re starting with just 104 square feet of space, you have to get creative in the kitchen. That’s exactly what designer Christine of Christine Tse Interiors did when she helped her clients expand their plain white kitchen with little cabinet or countertop space. The only catch? The kitchen couldn’t get any bigger.

How did she improve storage and the feel of this city kitchen? With some clever upgrades (and big dose of color). Take a look at the transformation!

The biggest change was the addition of an island, which was a must-have for Christine’s clients. They wanted to have more countertop space to use, along with the extra storage. One of the biggest challenges was that the floor wasn’t changing since the granite was still in good shape. With that in mind, Christine added a small island in front of the windows.

Christine also replaced the upper cabinets in the kitchen, making the existing ones taller and adding more cabinets over the sink. They wanted to squeeze as much vertical storage space out of the kitchen as possible!

Adding color was another priority for Christine’s clients. While the white was functional, it wasn’t very exciting. The two-tone solution with dark teal lower cabinets and a linen white for the upper cabinets makes the kitchen truly unique. Plus, Christine added a few luxe upgrades. She writes:

“We added brass trim to the cabinet doors that gave a touch of elegance to the cabinets. And since we had a lot of elements going in the kitchen, we decided to go with a mirrored backsplash to keep it simple and to reflect more light.”

Thanks for sharing your client’s remodel with us, Christine!
