My roommate moved out of the larger room in my apartment so I took the opportunity and switched rooms. Playing with a blank canvas was both exciting and daunting, as I started accumulating furniture a few weeks before the switch hoping it would all work out in the end.

I drew inspiration from Scandinavian design, Japan (where I’ve lived), and Brooklyn which resulted in a mix of natural wood and industrial-style elements. My favorite is the CB2 bookcase (a craigslist find) which allows me to display all my knick-knacks books. Lebowski, my cat, spends all day on the window ledge staring at squirrels in the back yard.

The whole move took a total of 2 days. The previous room I was in was quite small and only fit a bed and dresser, so I’m really excited to have this space as my own!

Thanks, Taiyo!
