Houseplants have gone from an accessory to a lifestyle, and having a wall full of plants is becoming more "millennial" than millennial pink. The only thing that could make it more trendy? If there was a subscription box associated with it.
Well, wonder no further when such a thing will exist—The Sill has launched a Plant Parent Club. For $35 a month, members get access to online workshops and free shipping on all orders, but, most importantly, they also get a new plant every month. The plant is a surprise, but you'll either get one plant with an accessory or three smaller plants. Designed to delight both newbies and veteran green thumbs, each plant comes with a one-pager on best care tips and makes it an easy way to increase your apartment vegetation over time.
We got to check out the June mailer of the Plant Parent Club. Like all Sill mailers, the plant came safely packed and cushioned (the June mailer was in a kind of shredded newsprint). In addition to an adorable coin plant, there were also stickers and a Sill tote bag. Right now, the coin plant is sitting on my desk and has been a great "beginner" plant: It is thriving despite a long weekend when I forgot to water it. I also look forward to future boxes being a way to fill out my plant collection without taking on too many new babies (so to speak) at once.
In the July box, subscribers got a money plant with a small sloth plant charm. As for what to expect in August, The Sill says "The fun is in the surprise!" The Plant Parent club starts with a three-month membership, and afterwards automatically renews on a monthly basis. The Sill also teases on the sign up page that more perks for plant parent members are coming soon.
