This Artist’s Vintage-Filled Brooklyn Loft Is Like Living in a Romantic Painting
When painter Holly J. Salerno moved into this 900-square-foot loft in Brooklyn’s Bushwick neighborhood three years ago, the rental loft — located in a former factory built in 1931 — was a “completely bare open space.” Along with a beautiful 10-foot skylight letting in lots of natural light, it was the perfect blank canvas for an artist.
“My loft serves as both my home and my painting studio. I’m the kind of artist who needs to stay close to my work, so having access to paint at any hour is essential,” Holly writes.
“Beyond being a workspace, it’s also a comfortable, dreamy environment that reflects my inner world. Since I’m a homebody, shaping this loft into a sanctuary has been transformative for both my creative flow and my overall well-being.”
Despite it being an open space, she’s created a cozy home using romantic vintage furniture arrangements and curtains to divide the space. A set of drapes divides the living room and bedroom area from the kitchen area. And curtains even create a cozy bed nook, too. The soft textiles paired with vintage furniture finds has made for an incredibly romantic home.
Thanks Holly!
