This Painting By Britney Spears Raised $10K for Charity
Britney Spears is an undoubtedly an artist of her generation—and now she can claim that title in a more traditional sense. The pop star can add “painter” to her resume, and one whose work even sells for $10,000.
All in the name of charity, of course.
In early October, the pop star posted a video to Instagram spending a whimsical afternoon in her Southern California home. With classic Mozart providing the soundtrack, Spears painted a photo of flowers with the caption, “Sometimes you just gotta play!!!!!!” A few weeks later, the canvas sold for $10,000.
During Vegas Cares, a charity event held to benefit the victims and first responders of the horrific shooting in Las Vegas, Lifestyles of the Rich & Famous host and official auctioneer Robin Leach, bid on the custom canvas.
During the fundraiser, Britney shared a video message with fans where she spoke of her love for Las Vegas and continued support of the victims and their families. “I’m so proud to call Vegas my second home and I’m pleased to participate in this Vegas Cares show.” She continues, “The flowers in my painting represent a new beginning, and it’s in that spirit that we move forward. All the proceeds from the winning bid go to Vegas Cares Memorial Fund. I appreciate your kindness and your generosity. I love you, Vegas.”
The commemorative event was held on Sunday, November 5 at The Venetian Hotel in Las Vegas. All proceeds from the auction will be donated to the Vegas Cares memorial fund, supporting efforts to honor the 58 people that lost their lives at the Route 91 Harvest festival, and the 500 that were injured.
