This TikToker Created a “Beauty and the Beast”-Inspired Library Using IKEA Products
In my humble opinion, one of the best TikTok niches is videos of people creating their dream home libraries, and TikToker Faiza Bag’s (@faizabaigandco) recent DIY project is no exception.
This week, Baig shared a TikTok video explaining how she and her partner created a dreamy home library inspired by Belle’s library from the 1991 Disney film “Beauty and the Beast.”
Faiza was determined to fulfill her childhood dreams of creating a home library, but not just any home library. She wanted to build a library “straight out of a storybook” — more specifically, the one from “Beauty and the Beast.” The only problem? Two different contractors told her the job would cost a whopping $15,000. So Faiza and her partner decided to take matters into their own hands.
First, they stopped by their local IKEA and stocked up on several of the brand’s Billy bookcases in black. Once the bookcases had been built and attached to the wall, they added extenders so they would reach all the way to the ceiling. Next, Faiza and her partner painted the bookcase trim black to match the bookcases. Finally, they added crown molding to the top of the shelves. Now, all that’s left to do is wait for a rail and ladder for the bookcases to arrive, so Faiza can swing across like Belle at the beginning of “Beauty and the Beast.”
Clearly, plenty of book lovers are also eager to learn how to DIY a fairytale library. Since Baig’s video was posted on February 7, it’s racked up over 11,700 likes and 161,000 views.
“I’m glad this is someone else’s childhood dream, too,” one TikToker commented.
Clearly, Baig is not alone in her library dream.
“I did this exact same thing with the white Billy bookcases,” another commenter wrote. “I just wish I had a ladder!”
