This Dad Misses Travel So Much, He Bought Plane Seats For His House
If you’re sorely missing travel these days, you know there’s only so many virtual tours you can try to help quell your wanderlust. One Seattle man misses traveling so much that he bought actual first class plane seats from Delta to keep in his house, and he’s going viral on TikTok for his at-home plane display.
TikTok user Nissy Simao recently chronicled the heartwarming story on her page, sharing that while she’s been away at school, her dad Steve decided to recreate the experience of getting on a plane by literally buying two plane seats on eBay for his home. Though his daughter thought he was joking, she learned he was extremely serious when he shared photos and videos of himself with the chairs in their living room—including the seatbelt, safety card, and all.
Not only did Steve use a requisite red fleece blanket as he settled into his seat, he even queued up the Delta in-flight safety video to watch on TV during his “departure.” Of course, the charming clip quickly went viral, with plenty taking to the comments section to tag Delta and request that they hook this travel fan up with some perks. The family even attempted to convince Grandma that they were FaceTiming her mid-flight, but she soon realized they were on a plane…in their living room…and thought the whole thing was truly hilarious.

Soon after, the CEO of Delta, Ed Bastian, took notice, recording a video in which he thanked Steve for his devotion, and sent the family three round-trip first-class flights to the destinations of their choosing once it’s safe to travel again. So while it might be a minute before the Simao family can enjoy some Biscoff cookies on board to the location of their dreams, it certainly seems like they’re having a blast enjoying the travel experience safely while staying home.
