This Couple Found a Secret Shower Hidden Behind Their Walls During a Renovation
You can never really be sure what you’ll unearth during a home renovation project, something one Oklahoma couple recently discovered when they were doing some work on their new home. The first-time homebuyers found a fully-tiled, walk-in shower complete with a shower caddy and a soap holder still installed hidden behind one of the walls in their house, and they no doubt got more than they bargained for.
Charity Schultz recently took to TikTok to share a clip of her husband Tyler standing on the toilet of what they seemingly thought was a half-bathroom in their home, using a crowbar to pry off part of the wall directly opposite the toilet. They then discovered a sealed-off shower stall located behind the wall, in a state of disrepair.

“Renovation finds… why,” Mia captioned the video, set to the popular (and definitely fitting) song, “Oh No,” used on many of the viral video app’s most epic fails. The clip quickly racked up more than 1.5 million views and more than 1,600 comments, some of which she addressed before posting a separate follow-up video about the situation.
They shared that they purchased the fixer-upper for less than $150,000 and knew that there would be some work involved to spruce it back up, but they reported that the sellers underestimated what it all might entail, calling the hidden shower a “leaking drain pan.”

“The seller told us that it was closed off because it was a leaking drain pan, and that it was a small fix, wasn’t going to cost much to fix, but they just didn’t have the time and energy to do it, so they covered it up,” she said in the follow-up video.
Of course, plenty of people joked about the find, with some noting that there surely was a crime that took place behind those walls, and others calling it a bonus to have paid for a half-bath and now have a full-bath. The couple explained they’re simply “annoyed at the lack of disclosure” on the part of the sellers, especially since it seems they claimed not to have the time and energy to fix the shower, but did have the time and energy to put a whole entire wall over it.
It seems they’re all about taking lemons and turning them into lemonade, chronicling their reno on Charity’s TikTok account for their newfound fans. The home is filled with many, many quirks, as the Schultzes are learning, including a fan that simply never turns off, shelves installed upside down, water spigots installed incorrectly, and door frames inexplicably cut not to size.
The joys of home ownership, indeed.
