Name: Kendra Vicken, my dog, Jane, and my hedgehog, Penny
Location: Phoenix, Arizona
Size: 490 square feet
Years lived in: 1.5 years, owned
My home is a 490-square-foot condo in downtown Phoenix. It’s my first (and only) purchased home and I love it to pieces. The location is ideal, it holds all the necessities and it feels like an oasis amidst the hustle and bustle. Inside its four walls lives my dog Jane, my hedgehog Penny, and myself!
This is my favorite view of my home. Art I made hangs on the wall, my handmade table sits front and center, and a giant fiddle leaf fig brings light to the room.
What is your favorite room and why? My favorite room is the living room because of the natural light and my art on the wall. It feels happy and peaceful, but is still comfortable enough to lounge and watch TV.
What’s the last thing you bought (or found!) for your home? All of the more recent things that have gone into my home are ones I have made. The big 3D painting in the living room is my most recent work and really ties that room together.
Describe your home’s style in 5 words or less: High-contrast, minimalistic, DIY, relaxing, luminous.
Any advice for creating a home you love? Make it your own by getting your hands dirty. The easiest way to make my house feel like mine was by crafting as much of it myself as I could. So I made my coffee table, and my entertainment stand/hedgehog cage (had to get creative here), and my headboard. I hung my own art on the walls. Everything about it feels like me and that makes it feel like home.
Thanks, Kendra Vicken!
