I started renting this apartment my sophomore year of college and stayed until after graduating. It’s one side of a small, brick duplex in Auburn, Alabama. I love the idea of rescuing quality furniture and not buying cheaply made and overpriced brand new items—so most of my furniture pieces are from thrift stores and consignment shops.

I’ve always been attracted to the warm woods and clean lines of mid-century furniture, and especially when you have a smaller apartment, the scale of vintage pieces works really well. I’ll miss my little college haven, but will be carrying everything with me wherever I end up next!

What is your favorite room and why? My favorite room is the living room/den area, which I submitted. It’s where I would hang out alone or with friends and listen to records or procrastinate doing schoolwork. This room had all my favorite items—my records, books, pictures/posters, art, etc. Many bottles of wine disappeared in this room…

If you could magically change something about your home, what would it be? I’d definitely want wood floors for added warmth and more natural light overall. I took the blinds down and picked the brightest part of the day to take pictures, but most of the time, the apartment was a little dim.

Which fictional character would be most at home in your place? I think Peggy Olsen wouldn’t mind coming home to my place after a hard day dealing with Don Draper. I bet Dev Shah from “Master of None” would also appreciate my place!

Thanks, Trevor!
