Stock Up: Trader Joe’s Has Mixed Potted Herb Gardens for Under $9
If you’re expecting guests for Thanksgiving and want to really wow them with your cooking skills, then you’ll want to stock up on all the fresh herbs you can buy. And right now you can get the freshest of the fresh thanks to Trader Joe’s. TJ’s is selling potted herbs just in time for Thanksgiving so you can season your dishes with herbs picked straight from your windowsill garden.
“Potted herbs for your thanksgiving turkey are here!” Instagram account @TraderJoes_Flowers wrote on November 11. They spotted the potted herbs at a Trader Joe’s Concord, California going for just $8.99.
And Trader Joe’s really put some thought into this herb bundle. Each pot contains rosemary, thyme, and sage — all the most traditional herbs used in a savory Thanksgiving dinner.
Because the pots are on the smaller side, you likely won’t have enough herbs to feed a table of 20 people. But if your Thanksgiving guest list is on the smaller side, these potted herbs will provide just enough flavor to get the job done.
Potted indoor herbs need a lot of sunlight to stay healthy — at least six to eight hours per day, which can be tricking during this time of year in the Northern Hemisphere. But if you lack a sunny spot in your home, you can stick your potted herbs under a fluorescent light to keep them happy.
And never allow the soil of your potted herbs to dry out, but be careful to not overwater them. You’ll know it’s time to water when the top layer of soil feels dry to the touch, but the under layers are still damp.
Fresh herbs make all the difference when you’re cooking a savory meal. So head to your local Trader Joe’s to see if it has these potted herbs in stock ahead of the biggest meal of the year.
