Before & After: A Couple Transformed a Dated 1980s RV into a Cozy, Boho Home
Name: Alexandra Tsuneta, husband, and two dogs, Barbra Streisand and Burt Macklin
Location: Great Falls, Virginia
Type of home: ‘87 Ford Tioga RV
Size: 161 square feet
Years lived in: 2 months, owned
Tell us a little (or a lot) about your home and the people who live there: In May, my husband and I bought a vintage camper with the intention of remodeling and living in it full time one-and-a-half years after purchasing.
However, with COVID-19 and a sudden amount of extra time on our hands, we found ourselves remodeling and moving into it after two and a half months. We now live in our RV (since Oct. 1) full time with our two perfect dogs, Burt and Barbra.
We identify as two queer, nomadic millennials, who are obsessed with our dogs and living without regrets. Our identity is definitely reflected in our home; we value comfort over amenities, and simplicity over everything.
Describe your home’s style in 5 words or less: Mid-century modern, bohemian, found, minimalist.
What is your favorite room and why? It’s kind of just one big, tiny room! However, I would say our seating area and “living room,” are my favorite part of the RV.
What’s the last thing you bought (or found!) for your home? A giant, fancy dog bed for Burt!
Any advice for creating a home you love? Don’t be afraid to showcase yourself and what you love in your home.
Also, what you think you want, a big house, yard, etc. may just be what is holding you back. Take a leap!
