Having lived in London for more than a decade, Kelly Pike and her husband Henry decided to move to the West Country with their baby to find more space for the family. They fell in love with an unloved Edwardian end-of-terrace in South Bristol, and have been putting their efforts into making this a home for their family ever since.
Fast forward six years, and the couple now has three children: Rafferty, Liberty, and Rufus. They’ve also turned this once-boxy house into a dream family space. They added an extension consisting of an open plan kitchen diner and a playroom that leads straight to the garden. And while open plan living is not a new concept, as a work-at-home mom (Kelly is an award-winning publicist) with three kids under the age of 6, this layout is crucial for her; she can get work done and keep her eyes on the kids.
As to furnishing their home, Kelly has a knack for finding bargains everywhere. From the chesterfield sofa in her front room they bought for £50, to the coffee table in her living room (which was originally an architect’s chest she bought from an actual architectural practice!), pretty much all her furniture is secondhand and nothing was more than £100!
