I’m a Shopping Editor and I Just Found the Most Ingenious Item That Turns Plants Into Seriously Stylish Decor
For a long time, I was apprehensive about getting houseplants. I don’t have a green thumb, I didn’t know which plants to get, and when it came to planters, I wasn’t sure where to start. Fortunately, I’ve conquered my fear of taking care of living greenery, and after some tries and failures, I’ve even managed to nail down quite a few planters that work for my apartment. Some of them are hand-me-downs that have seen better days, but as far as containing my plants, they get the job done. Besides, there are multiple ways to revamp old planters to make them like new, whether it’s DIY or something you buy. Verloop has been on my radar for a while, thanks to their colorful knits that include throw blankets, pet gear, pillows, and more. They’re also pros at repurposing textiles to create funky accessories and home goods. My favorite section, however, is their home accents. The brand’s Rib Planter Sleeve Set came in clutch when I needed to upgrade my plant collection. Now that I have a Fiddle Leaf Fig that needs a nicer home, Verloop’s sale couldn’t have come at a better time.
There are multiple variations of the Rib Planter Sleeve Set to choose from, so it’s not difficult to find a style or color combination that goes with your home aesthetic. The 100-percent acrylic sleeves are made from surplus fabric, and knitted into a stretchy ribbed design. Though they’re aimed at planters, the sleeves are versatile enough to dress up a variety of containers as long as the sleeve can fit around it. They’re designed to take the shape of any vessel they dress up, which means they aren’t limited to only standard shapes like round, square, or rectangular. The set includes one small and one medium sleeve that are suitable for short pots and tall vases. They come in multicolor stripes as well as color pairings like black and white, Yellow Lilac, and Poppy Golden Olive. I was surprised by how much my Rainbow set brightened up my space because it’s such a small change to make, but the impact of it was striking and brought life to the plant along with the room.
My Fiddle Leaf Fig is still very new to my home and doesn’t have a worn-down pot, but it is a little plain. I could leave it as is, but I love adding touches of color in unexpected places at home to give it some personality. It’s my largest plant with the largest planter, so the standard Rib Planter Sleeve Set won’t fit, but Verloop is already steps ahead. There’s an XL version of the planter sleeves that would be perfect for it. Like the others, it’s made from deadstock and doesn’t have to be used for a plant pot if that’s not what you need it for. I love the multipurpose aspect because it could be used to cover a stool, side table, or other furniture. Or you could even wrap it around a gift to someone as a bonus present they can use once it’s all unwrapped. There’s not really a limit to their creativity because they’re made to be flexible in form and function, adding subtle texture to your home decor in an instant.
In addition to the Rib Planter Sleeve Set and the XL Rib Planter Sleeve, Verloop has stretchy knit sleeves for bottle-neck vessels that can be used to cover a vase or gift a bottle of wine. Their unconventional style is exactly what makes them stand out, and whether you’re picking up a few for yourself or your favorite person, you can’t really go wrong.
