A Small Rental Is Warm and Bubbly Despite the Industrial Loft Style
Lindsey Dorsainvil has been renting this 510-square-foot loft for two months: A true apartment that feels like a home and I’m honored to have been able to create this feeling in such little time. I’m a full-time nurse practitioner student while being a full-time registered nurse. Just moving from Los Angeles to New York to complete my master’s degree, I knew large windows that allow in sun were something I absolutely needed — especially with the cold winters I’m in for!
I couldn’t have asked for anything more special. I live alone with my cat and, while the space isn’t huge, I think there’s something about spaces being on the smaller side to promote coziness. I love it here!
I Identify as a very free-spirited, open-minded, selfless person who always looks for the comfort in discomfort. I am always looking for ways I can continue to grow! I love collectibles and having little pieces from places I’ve been to. I’m always thinking when I see something, “How can I fit this into my life?” I’m always confident, but sometimes it takes a bit more time. I’m Caribbean and absolutely love the tropics.
The plants I have in my apartment reflect that — from my monstera, to my majesty palm. Green everywhere, including my couch. Hope, harmony, peace, and tranquility! I keep disco balls everywhere. I consider myself groovy and I love dancing; with all the sun I get, I love the dancing reflections.
Describe your home’s style in five words or fewer: Vibrant, cozy, bright, warm, and bubbly.
What is your favorite room and why? My favorite space is my living area. Everything is here. My kitchen is here, my disco balls are constantly dancing with the sun reflection, the sun hits hard and naturally raises the temperature in here. I also get to study in here and watch my favorite shows. All my plants make me feel really good. I’m a first-time plant mom and I think I’m doing pretty damn good!
What’s the last thing you bought (or found!) for your home? The last thing I bought was my money tree plant from lowes!
Any advice for creating a home you love? Make it very intentional! What reminds you of how you feel when you feel your best? Display it.
Thanks, Lindsey!
