This “Chic” West Elm Side Table Completely Decluttered My Living Room (It’s Under $200!)
In the two years that I’ve worked at Apartment Therapy, I’ve really learned how to appreciate thoughtfully designed small-space finds and storage solutions. I currently share a small one-bedroom apartment with my boyfriend — like under 600-square-feet small. Whenever something new enters our apartment, even if it’s as small as a book, something needs to leave. That’s how tight we are on space. And with how many products I’m testing on a regular basis, it’s a constant flow of stuff in and out of my apartment. I need to be decisive about what furniture, appliances, bedding, and home decor remains in my space.
Several side tables have come and gone in my apartment since we moved in, but there’s one that I can use in multiple rooms: The Belle Nightstand from West Elm. I opted for the Dark Bronze color, but a Haze is also available. Both are neutral enough to fit into any space.
What Is the West Elm Belle Nightstand?
The West Elm Belle Nightstand is technically designed as a bedside table, but I use it in my living room as a side table. It’s entirely made of steel and is hand-welded and finished. It features two open shelves and an ingenious drawer that slides open and closed. The top drawer is relatively spacious; it’s 14.4 inches in diameter and 5.5 inches tall. It does weigh 25 pounds, so that should be kept in mind for those who will need to carry it up flights of stairs.
Why I Love the West Elm Belle Nightstand
One of the main reasons I love the West Elm Belle Nightstand is because it’s an unusual and stylish shape. Most side tables or nightstands are rectangular or square, while this one is circular. I think it creates an interesting focal point in my living room and makes it look larger. This nightstand is less clunky. It’s also the perfect height for my couch — it’s the exact same height as the armrest. This nightstand is a great drink holder. I obviously use coasters, but it isn’t a requirement — because the table is steel, I don’t have to worry about condensation or spills. I also hide all of our small clutter, like playing cards and remotes, inside the side table’s top drawer. The bottom two shelves, I reserve for coffee table books, regular books, magazines, and craft projects, like my knitting or needlepoint.
This side table can hold so much, and it’s so chic for its price point. West Elm can be kind of pricey, but this $200 table is honestly a steal.
