Drew Michael Scott’s West Elm Collection Is a Cozy Nod to Nostalgia

You might think you know home content creator Drew Michael Scott pretty well from his popular home decor store and video channel, Lone Fox. But did you know that he was working as a sales associate at West Elm in Los Angeles when he kicked off his social media and YouTube career? That’s made his first-ever collaboration with West Elm, which dropped this morning, an especially sweet full-circle moment that celebrates how far he has come in his design journey. 

Inspired by nostalgia and vintage touches, the collection is holiday-coded but not overly Christmas-themed. That said, many of the pieces will certainly add a dose of festiveness to all of your surfaces — furniture, fireplace mantel, tables, and, of course, garlands and trees, if you decorate with them. 

The Lone Fox x West Elm Collection is a cozy, cabin-meets-cottagecore inspired assortment of pieces for decorating, entertaining, and hosting. Though many of the items reference the holidays — and you’ll find things like modern heirloom-worthy ornaments and wreaths — a lot of the collection can be used for everyday, especially if you gravitate towards rich colors and whimsical details. You’ll also find plates, vessels, and serveware for setting a woodsy, welcoming table alongside gorgeous textiles, a few of which reflect Scott’s love of timeless tapestry prints. “More than ever people want their homes to feel gathered, storied, and collected,” says Scott. “Tapestry style textiles are the perfect way to implement this vibe.”

Speaking of referencing history, all of the pieces seem to have a natural patina that makes them feel familiar from the get-go. “Everything nods to the past, especially folk art and other handcrafted pieces,” says Scott. “I wanted it to feel like it had truly been collected over time; nothing is too matchy-matchy. I also avoided anything that felt too fancy or glittery. The glam, glitzy Christmas vibe can be done so well, but this collection feels more at home in a cabin or a cottage than in a modern mansion.”
