Whitney Houston’s legacy continues to live on and now, a piece of her history in New Jersey is on the market for $1.599 million.

Located in Mendham, New Jersey, the guest house of the Whitney Houston estate is now for sale. Set on five rolling acres of natural surroundings, the three-bed, four-bath home (two full, two partial) is a spacious ranch-style property that the current owners purchased from Houston in 2010. Houston passed away in 2012, but her memory lives on in the property, with a few special touches in the recording studio that celebrate her legacy.

Built in 1973, the home is tucked behind gates and fully fenced in for plenty of privacy. Move inside from the beautifully wooded surroundings and front stone walkway and you’ll find a comfortable sitting area, complete with a gray brick fireplace. On the other side of that is the formal dining area, with a sliding glass door that leads outside. The gourmet eat-in kitchen has a big center island with bar seating, as well as double ovens and a wine refrigerator. Another large sliding glass door leads out to the patio. The finished three-season great room is a wonderful addition for busy families or anyone who loves to entertain. It has a beautiful cedar ceiling, and opens to the back yard.

The private primary bedroom, which was renovated in 2016, features a huge dressing area and primary bathroom located off a private side hallway. In the east wing of the home, there’s a comfortable den, as well as two additional bedrooms and a full bath.

One of the most important features of the home is the former recording studio that features a variety of tributes to the legendary musician. Currently functioning as a media room, gym area, office and kitchenette, it could have a variety of uses thanks to the soundproof glass walls. Don’t miss the colorful artwork hanging on the wall that’s a nod to Houston’s memory.

Outside, a hot tub and tennis court provide plenty of opportunities to enjoy the beautiful surroundings. With meticulous landscaping, it combines privacy and the beauty of the natural environment. And with a location just an hour outside of Manhattan, it’s the perfect spot to regroup away from the hustle and bustle of New York.

Houston’s primary estate, located nearby, sold for $1.5 million in 2014 after five years on the market. At the time of her death, Houston hadn’t lived in the home for several years. However, the buyer was a “big fan” of Houston’s, and told NJ.com that he was “very conscious of preserving what she created there.”

Liane Dobson of Kienlen Lattmann Sotheby’s International Realty has the listing.
