This Colorful California Condo Has the Coziest Window Seats
Name: Pratiksha Tandon, husband, and 17-month-old daughter
Location: Foster City, California
Size: 1,350 square feet
Years lived in: 1 year, renting
I am an architect and an interior designer married to a data scientist currently living in the Bay Area, California. We moved to the Bay Area from Connecticut a year ago to be close to family. The thing that made us fall in love with this house were the big gorgeous windows on all three sides with beautiful views of green outside.
My design aesthetic has evolved over the years, from living in different parts of north India then traveling to the East Coast and now finally the West. Having lived in apartments throughout I realized the value of having limited functional pieces of furniture which are versatile in their use.
I personally like bright, clutter-free spaces. In addition to that, I love balancing neutrals and whites with bright pops of color and layering different textures, prints, and fabrics in my styling.
What is your favorite room and why? My favorite room has to be the master bedroom, because it has everything I wanted in my room. A window seat, a reading nook, lots of natural light, and view of trees outside.
Describe your home’s style in 5 words or less: Bright and airy with pops of color.
If you could magically change something about your home, what would it be? I wish I could magically own this place instead of renting it, because then I can do a lot more to it. With rental limitations, I cannot hang much on the walls nor paint it in a different color. Also, the laundry area in this house is one space which I would completely redesign to have more storage.
Thanks, Pratiksha!
