To mark Asian American Pacific Islander Heritage Month, Yelp released a list of beloved Asian-owned businesses across the country, highlighting standout businesses that you should add to your radar this year. In the home and design space, the innovative businesses include candle bars, vintage furniture stores, kitchen supplies, and much more. Whether you’re after a last-minute Mother’s Day gift or want to treat yourself (and your home) to something new, below is a selection of the Asian-owned businesses to watch in 2022.

New York, NY

Pearl River Mart has been thriving in New York City for more than 50 years. Owned by Ming Yi and Ching Yeh Chen, the business sells everything from cookware to lighting.

Yelp review: “Chock full of amazing kitsch, oriental, Asian inspired and above all fantastic eye candy apparel and housewares,”

Pre-loved and vintage furniture store Sutterfield Consignment is a fan favorite, stocking high-end furniture, whimsical pieces, and unique accessories to tie everything together.

Yelp review: “The furniture here is of very good quality. If you are looking for unique pieces this is the place. I think it is a good value for what you get,”

Seattle, WA

Elm Candle Bar was founded by three cousins and offers customizable candles both online and in the heart of Seattle. With specially curated collections like “Great Outdoors” and “Food and Garden“, there’s a scent for everyone.

Yelp review: “I loved checking out the 80+ scents and candle jar options – they got a lot of options for different budgets.”

Los Angeles, CA

Gorgeous and unique homeware, all $25 or under? Count me in. Candles, trinkets, and kitchen essentials make up Goodies’ selection of must-have products.

Yelp review: “So glad they opened a Santa Monica location! I love shopping here, all their “Goodies” are well made and you cannot beat the price!”

Queens, NY

“Our focus [is] to find beautiful things that seriously make people smile,” Saint Seneca’s website reads, and with products like the Drippy Mugs ($58) and Cheetah Print Pet Bandana ($19), I’d say it’s mission accomplished.

Yelp review: “The owner was extremely nice and we had a lovely conversation after I explained I’d just moved to the area. It was clear that she had intentionally curated the shop with many local artists!”
