York Wallcovering’s 2022 Color of the Year is a Playful Pop of Pink
York Wallcoverings has announced its 2022 Color of the Year and it’s a playful hue that’s sure to add a burst of optimism to any space. Introducing At First Blush, a dusty pink that balances the fine line between warm neutral and expressive statement. Pinks have increasingly become en vogue in recent years, so it’s no surprise that beautiful blush tones are popping up more and more in both Color of the Year announcements and celebrity interior style—just take a look at Drew Barrymore’s pretty pink kitchen.
“Traditionally accepted as a nonaggressive color, blush has quietly moved into focus as a cornerstone of contemporary interiors,” said Carol Miller, trend and color expert for York Wallcoverings, in a press release announcing the news. “As a breathtaking companion to earth tones or the luminescent hue of far distant galaxies, the color blush possesses a rich and dynamic beauty that acts as both anchor and inspiration across all borders, boundaries, and tribes. We’re thrilled to designate At First Blush as our 2022 Color of the Year.”
To demonstrate the color’s versatility and overall impact in the spaces that surround us, York Wallcoverings has released three distinct color palettes featuring At First Blush: “Desert Evening” (Natural), “Cool Cat,” (Retro), and “Lotus” (Spiritual).
The “Desert Evening” color palette features warming, earth tones and can be found in several of York’s wallpapers, including Onyx Strata, Serene Jewel, and Silk Weave. “Cool Cat” is a nostalgic collection of colors that will transport any room back to the retro era. These bolder hues bring fresh energy to several wallpaper patterns that reflect patterns and trends like grandmillennial, chinoiserie, palm leaves, and more. Finally, the “Lotus” color palette is an uplifting palette that is associated with promoting calm and serenity throughout the home. Wallpapers such as Peacock, Sprig & Heron, and Lady Slipper are a great choice.
