Starchitect Zaha Hadid was a tour de force of contemporary architecture and design, creating everything from iconic buildings to vases and tableware—even a sneaker. Now, her Miami Beach condo is on the market, and some of her one of a kind furniture is up for grabs as well.
The 2,299 square foot condo at the W Hotel South Beach is almost entirely windows, with stunning views of the Atlantic Ocean. The place comes with three bedrooms, four bathrooms, and as few interior walls as possible.
The world famous architect didn't just pick a generic condo and stick with it, of course; Hadid combined multiple floor plans to create the unit, as described by listing agency Rex Hamilton:
The residence is presented as a grand main apartment with balconies wrapping the east and south views plus a totally separate guest apartment which is a one bedroom facing southeast. The main apartment originally combined two floor plans which Zaha Hadid then reformatted and customized as a grand one bedroom residence with a generous oceanfront living room and terraces for entertaining guests. It also has a smaller guest room with excellent views.
The property also gives the buyer an opportunity to purchase Hadid's custom furniture as well. "When looking at the objects she selected for her apartment, one gets a sense that they were created especially and exactly for here—in particular the dining room table and its cocktail table twin which dramatically capture the tropical sunshine from the terraces," the listing reads.
The design world was shocked when Hadid, 65, passed away of a heart attack in March 2016. "Among architects emerging in the last few decades, no one had any more impact than she did," said architect Richard Rogers.
The property is listed with Rex Hamilton for $10 million, furniture available separately.
