This 312-Square-Foot Bangkok Studio Is an Incredibly Cozy, Lovely Home

“I bought a condo, thinking it would be the perfect space for me. But over time, I realized it just didn’t feel right — the atmosphere felt off, and the financial pressure was heavier than I’d expected. I ended up deciding to sell it. With just a small part of the money, I set out to create a space that truly felt like mine.”
After selling and deciding to downsize, he found the studio he now lives in. “It was love at first sight. I fell in love with the layout and the natural light the moment I saw it,” he says. He signed the lease before his old place had even sold and moved in just in time. Gunn features looks inside his home on TikTok.
When it comes to decorating, Gunn observes what he likes in other spaces online and adapts those ideas to fit his own style and budget. He chose a color palette of green, orange, and blue simply because those colors make him feel good. The result is a studio that feels relaxed, lived-in, and true to his personality.
Gunn shares the studio with his cat, Jamuen. His boyfriend, Mana, also often stays while working in Bangkok. Although sometimes it can be challenging, Gunn enjoys the challenge of maximizing a small space. For example, one challenge is that the space doesn’t have a kitchen — not uncommon for Thai apartments — but Gunn’s set up a movable cart for warming food and making drinks. “It’s just enough for what I need,” he shares.
A big part of what makes this place feel like home is the community. Gunn appreciates the kind apartment manager and staff, which adds to the welcoming atmosphere.
Gunn’s advice for anyone looking to create a home they love is straightforward: Trust your instincts and know your priorities. He suggests focusing on whether a space fits your lifestyle, rather than just the size. “The size of the space isn’t as important as how well it serves you,” he says.
“This space is special because it’s the first time I’ve been able to fully express my style and decorate freely. It turned out just the way I imagined — and the people around me seem to love it too, which makes it even more meaningful.”
“Even though it’s a rental, this room means so much to me. It marks a huge decision I made for myself, and somehow it’s brought unexpected new opportunities into my life. It still surprises me how much a space can change the way you feel.”
Thanks, Gunn!
