Since Europeans have mastered the art of living small and Parisians are some of the most stylish people in the world, it stands to reason that Paris would be a bountiful source for small space inspiration. And it is. Hardly a week goes by where I don’t find another impossibly beautiful tiny space, chock full of clever and elegant solutions for living well with less. Here are four of my favorites.

This beautifully compact studio by French architect Marianne Evennou is only 270 square feet, but there’s a lot happening in that small space. Lofting the bed means that the floor is free for a couch, a generous workspace and kitchen, and even a couple of closets. (You can see more photos, and a floor plan, on the designer’s site.)

This is the tiny, charming apartment of Parisian writer and designer Éléonore, which at 377 square feet somehow magically contains a kitchen, workspace, cozy living area, bedroom nook, and even a generous walk-in closet/boudoir.

It may be small, but thanks to a clever design this 300 square foot studio on the Left Bank has pretty much anything you could possibly need. Ample natural light and built-ins galore combine to make this little apartment surprisingly spacious.

And finally, here’s a lovely little space in Paris that I had the privilege of photographing. At only 430 square feet, it’s quite small, at least by American standards, but it feels much larger thanks to judicious furniture choices — and those big, beautiful windows. Check out the full tour here.
